I am going to try desperately to catch up the blog before the end of the year. I need to rewind back to November. My mom, sisters and sister-in-laws came out to visit for a week. We were staying at the Maryland coast in a town called Ocean Pines, really close to Ocean City. This the first time in our history that we have all been able to get together and for such an extended period of time. We were practically giddy with the thoughts of several days with nothing to do but chatting, movies, shopping, eating good food and sleeping. We were very grateful for the hubbies that held down the home front so we could escape for a few days.
Ryan was a trooper to have his home invaded by several large personalities at the same time. This is our harem picture with the lucky guy!! So thankful for him!! For our next trip we are taking applications for another one of the brothers to host us!! Any takers!!?
This was our home for the week. It was large and clean but missing a few important furnishings. On our way to the coast we had stopped off at some outlet malls and so by the time we got to the house it was later. It took us a while to find the place because it was tucked back in some woods. By the time we got the cars unpacked, and the house checked out, we realized that there were not towels, toilet paper, or bedding in the entire house. We thought perhaps the cleaning people had taken the laundry to get it clean and would bring it back. No, no such luck. The gentleman that we rented from just forgot to tell me that it was our responsibility to bring those things. Yeah super fun!! So we headed to Wally World just up the road so that we could at least have something when we took showers and went potty. I can laugh about it now but in the moment, I wasn't too happy about that key bit of information being left out!!
After having a wonderful nights rest in our sheetless beds. We literally spent the entire day in our pj's and lounged around the house. It was heaven. I am not even sure of the time that everyone was up. We spent a good amount of time talking, catching up, eating, watched a movie and just decompressed. Every now and then everyone needs a day like that.
The next morning we had the crazy idea that we needed to be up to greet the sun on the beach. It was COLD but we persevered and got to say hello to the new day. Sariah wasn't as crazy as the rest of us and she stayed in her nice warm bed and got some extra zzzz's. She also stayed with Lana's baby so she wasn't out in the cold. We had a few photographers in the bunch so there were tons of pics, I narrowed it down to get a good idea of the morning.
After seeing the glorious sunrise, and after stopping to get a hot chocolate, we headed back home to beautify ourselves for a day out looky looing!! We hit up another outlet mall and had fun trying things on and getting each other's opinions of what looked best on each of us. Loved doing that!!
Not far from where we were staying was a little historic town called Berlin. It happens to be where they filmed the movie Runaway Bride, which is one of my favorite movies. The town has a cute main street overflowing with antique shops, and fun little places to look at. We had fun looking at fun things and just spending the day with no time frame of any kind.

This is the Hotel Atlantic that the character Ike from the movie stays in when he comes to the fictional town of Hale, Maryland. It had a wonderful restaurant that we ate a delicious lunch at. It was so fun. You can actually book a stay at the hotel which would be really cool!!
After our day in Berlin we headed back to the beach to say goodbye to the sun. It was actually really cool to say hello and goodbye to the sun!! It is also amazing to see the different light that is present during the different times of day.
On our last day we spent a day checking out a lighthouse close by. Our grandmother had a love of lighthouses and she passed that on to us. We were channeling our inner Lila that day. This light house is the Assateague Lighthouse and it is still in operation today. It isn't run by a light keeper though, the Coast Guard operates it now.
We were hoping we would see some of the Assateague wild ponies but we sadly didn't. We had a lovely stroll through the woods though and of course stopped to take some pics.

After unsuccessfully trying to spot wild ponies we made our way to the beach to say hello once again to the Atlantic Ocean. It never gets old!! We collected seashells and picked up more sand in our shoes!! It was hard to say goodbye to the coast. We had had such a wonderful time with each other.
We had one more day to have fun though. We planned a day back in town to go to the temple, and then head downtown to check out some museums and monuments. We also wanted to head to dinner and check out a cuisine that we wouldn't normally eat at.
So bright and early we headed to the Washington D.C. temple for a wonderful session. It was so wonderful being in the temple with these women who mean the world to me!!
Then it was off to ride the Metro downtown. I always loving taking new people on the Metro. It is an experience for sure!!
We hit up the Museum of American History and the Museum of Natural History. We saw the World War II memorial, Vietnam Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. We wanted to see more but we had dinner reservations and we tried hard to squeeze in as much as we could.
We decided on Ethiopian food for our dining experience. It was so, so good!! We had a great waiter and great service. We also had an amazing dessert. We cleaned out the dessert case after having tried the Baklava and another cream dessert. It was that good!!
In one word this girls week was EPIC. It was amazing to be with these women whom I love so much. I love that we are all different yet fully supportive of one another. I feel so blessed that we have the relationships that we do and that we want to spend time like this with each other. It is amazing, really!! I can't wait until our next trip girls!!
